Meridiem

Maritime innovation hub Meridiem started its operations in early 2012. Its main objective is to create new forms of cooperation between research and industry, and to provide its members and stakeholders with premises and extensive professional network suitable for interdisciplinary, business-oriented and innovative research and development activities.

An essential part of Meridiem's operations is to strengthen the long-term development activities of the maritime sector, promote networking at all levels (local, regional, national and international), and to implement and coordinate national and international research projects. Meridiem promotes and facilitates the creation of innovative business concepts, networks, products and services, and strives to improve the productivity and competitiveness of the maritime sector as a whole.

Higher education institutes and universities involved in Meridiem activities include Aalto University, University of Turku, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Lappeenranta University of Technology, Novia University of Applied Sciences and Åbo Akademi University. Its premises, facilities and administrative services are provided by the Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd. and the City of Turku.
